It's time to shed those Winter layers! I will be hosting my annual Spring Hafla outdoors again this year (weather permitting). If it rains, we will simply move the party indoors. The hafla will take place in grass and parking area behind the Senior Center. This year, I will be featuring belly dance and health & wellness vendors, as well as tarot card readings, henna, and foot reflexology. We will also have a snack table, and live drumming by Bumbada Women Drummers following the performance, for anyone who wants to shimmy! I have also decided to teach a workshop this year, which will be held indoors so that we can use the mirrors. The hafla is free to attend and open to the public, so invite your friends! Please bring your own camping chairs to watch the performance

Event Schedule: 2:00-4:30pm vending and socializing 2:15-3:45pm Dance Workshop (indoors) 4:30-5:30pm Belly Dance Show 5:30-?? Drum Circle

Performance Details: Belly Dance performance starts at 4:30pm Performance spots are available. Soloists have 5mins., troupes have 7mins. Dancers will perform on the smooth blacktop pavement area that is the entrance to the building (near the sliding glass doors), so please wear appropriate footwear. The space is pretty open, so feel free to swing swords and canes! The month of April tends to be somewhat windy, so keep that in mind if you plan to perform with a veil. If you would like to perform, please email your music to: Hempcreations.minaya@gmail.com with your attached music in mp3 format, and your preferred dance/stage name for yourself or your group. Please submit your request no later than Monday March 28th.

Vendor Information: You may start setting up at 1:45pm. The total event time is from 2:00-6:00pm (or until the drumming stops). You will be setting up in the grass area next to the entrance of the senior center, like last year. You will have a 10×10 foot single space where you will need to provide your own table, chairs, and canopy (optional). Spots are $20. Pm me if interested. I am currently looking specifically for belly dance or wellness related vendors. If it rains and we have to move indoors, 6 foot round tables and chairs will be provided, so all you need to bring will be your items.

Workshop Details: 2:15-3:45pm. Cost: $25 per person The workshop will take place inside the building of the Senior Center. I will be teaching a belly dance/pop choreography! This will be a fun way to show off some belly dance moves on a more casual dance floor . In this piece, we will be combining cabaret style belly dance steps with some upper body hip hop gestures. Our focus will be on syncing our body movements to the beat of the music, along with timing of pops, locks, and dramatic pauses. Music will be "Work From Home" by Fifth Harmony. If you plan to attend the workshop, let me know ahead of time so that I can email you the music. Please wear comfortable shoes and flexible clothing, coin less hip wraps would work best for this piece. This workshop is open to all levels of dance experience, including beginners, so come join the fun!
